Moscow: In a tragic incident, a youth from Punjab's Ludhiana has died in Russia. He had gone swimming in the sea with his friends, but got caught in strong waves and drowned. The deceased has been identified as 20-year-old Sai Dhruv Kapoor.

Dhruv's father, Karan Kapoor, works as a financial consultant. The family was not financially strong, but to fulfill his son's dreams, Karan sent his son to Russia for higher studies. Due to visa restrictions, Dhruv had to return after six months. Last year, he went back to Moscow on a study visa.

On Sunday, Dhruv called home and informed his family that he was going to the beach with friends. At first, Karan considered asking him not to go, but then thought that after a full week of studying and working, his son deserved a day of relaxation, so he didn't stop him. But little did he knew that this was going to be his last call with his son.

Dhruv went to the seashore in Moscow with three friends to take a swim. During this time, he was swept away by strong sea currents. His friends narrowly escaped. By the time Dhruv was rescued and brought out, he had already passed away.

Dhruv's death has devastated the entire family. His sister, who was preparing for the festival of Raksha Bandhan, was planning to send a Rakhi to her brother just like every year. Now, she is instead making arrangements to bring his body back to India.

The grieving family has appealed to both the Central and Punjab governments for assistance in getting his body back home. They wish to perform his last rites in India.
