Excercise 'Komodo' | Ministry of Defence

Bali: The Indian Navy's INS Shardul and Long Range Maritime Surveillance P-8I aircraft arrived in Bali, Indonesia, on Sunday, February 16, 2025, to participate in the International Fleet Review (IFR), which is scheduled from February 16 to February 22, 2025.

A fleet review is a prestigious international event in which participating navies showcase their ships in a parade, typically reviewed by an incumbent head of state or military dignitaries. This year's event will be reviewed by the President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto. The IFR will feature over 30 ships from more than 15 countries.

Multilateral Navel Excercise Theme

The Multilateral Naval Exercise Komodo officially opened at Benoa Port in Denpasar, Bali, on Sunday, February 16, 2025. The event began with a traditional Balinese dance, highlighting the cultural heritage of the host country. This year's theme is "Maritime Partnership for Peace and Stability," focusing on natural disaster management and humanitarian aid. The exercise aims to strengthen friendships and improve coordination among the participating countries in handling disaster situations.

The Indian Navy to participate in International Maritime Security

The Indian Navy will participate in the International Maritime Security Symposium and tactical exercises. Additionally, the crew will engage in various multinational activities, such as releasing baby turtles, planting coral and mangroves, and cleaning beaches. These efforts highlight the Navy's commitment to environmental conservation and maritime cooperation. The Indian Navy's consistent participation demonstrates India's commitment to collaborating with regional navies.

About Exercise Komodo

The Indian Navy's FR 25, including both INS Shardul and the P-8I, will participate in Exercise Komodo. Exercise Komodo, officially known as the Multilateral Naval Exercise KOMODO, is a military drill organized by the Indonesian Navy (TNI-AL). Its primary objective is to enhance cooperation among the navies participating from across the Indo-Pacific region. This non-combatant exercise has been held regularly every two years by the Indonesian Navy since 2014.
