Pawfect corner: When to take your pet to the vet

Every pet parent wants to keep his/her pet healthy and happy under any circumstance. But there are times when it can be tough to do so especially if your pet is going through a health crisis. And, you aren’t aware of what’s ailing your furry baby. Though there are various health issues that present themselves almost immediately. There are some which require mindful observation. These are the times that you must make a quick visit to the vet:
1. Change in bathroom habits or faeces, especially blood in the stool
2. Drinking excessive water, which can be an indication of diabetes or kidney problem
3. If your pet vomits more than once in the span of 12 hours
4. Change in dietary habit
6. Troubled breathing or panting
7. Eye discharge, droopy eyes or eyelid covering a part of the eye
8. Hyperactivity, which can also be a sign of a medical problem
9. Loss of fur or bald patches, or dry, rough fur
10. New lumps or bumps on a part of your pet’s body that refuse to subside
11. Change in energy levels — they seem extra tired or fatigued
12. Visible signs of pain that is causing them to limp, yelp, flinch or whine while moving
13. Cough that lasts for more than a day
14. Sudden weight loss or weight gain
15. Bleeding from mouth, eye or nose
16. Abdomen seems swollen or hard
