Robbers snatch security guard's gun
They carried a pistol in their hands along with the gun they snatched from on-duty security guard, Manoj Kumar. They went to the racks and targeted gold, silver, and diamond ornaments. The videos showed them packing the items into bags before escaping the spot.
The criminals had reportedly arrived in a car and parked it across the street before executing their plan. First, they attacked the security personnel and snatched his weapon. They, later, entered the store and robbed it of jewellery worth lakhs.
Rohit Kumar Mishra, an employee of the looted jewellery store, told news agency IANS that the staff hid behind the counters to save their lives when the situation got tense and chaotic.
"The robbers took away their (Guards) guns and forced everyone to one side. We hid behind the counter, they beat us... The situation was chaotic, and we couldn't understand what was happening", he said.
Police intervenes
Another staff member, Simran, was quoted in news reports revealing that they attempted to seek police help during the robbery and repeatedly dialed the nearest police station, which was only 600 meters away. However, despite making 25-30 distress calls, no officers arrived in time, allowing the robbers to escape uncaught.
