Raipur/ Sukma: In a major move against corruption, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) and the Economic Offenses Wing (EOW) raided six locations in Sukma district on Thursday morning. The raids were carried out at the residences of prominent CPI leaders, including relatives of former MLA Manish Kunjam, and five Tendu leaf managers. The raids began around 6 a.m., and investigations are ongoing at all sites. Individuals present at the locations are also being questioned.
The operation is connected to an earlier case involving irregularities in the Tendu leaf trade, in which Sukma’s Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Ashok Patel was suspended. The action comes as part of a wider investigation led by ACB and EOW teams from Raipur, who had previously raided 14 locations across Raigarh, Jagdalpur, Dantewada, Bijapur, and Sukma.
In addition to the Sukma raids, earlier searches included properties of two teachers from Chhindgarh and Konta, also under suspicion, along with Bijapur’s Assistant Commissioner Anand, whose residence in Jagdalpur was also searched.
The authorities have not yet released a full list of findings but stated that the investigation is ongoing, and further action will follow based on the evidence collected.
