Update(August 1, 6pm IST): Samsung has shared an update on this matter with The Free Press Journal. "The service has now been restored, and you should be able to resume normal use by powering off and restarting your TV with the remote control," the company said.
Samsung Smart TV owners around the world are reporting of a major outage globally. The downtime has rendered several apps—including Netflix, YouTube, and Prime Video—completely inaccessible. The issue appears to be global, with users across India, the United States, Europe, and other regions reporting the same problem.
The glitch, first noticed by users early in the day, prevented apps from opening or loading properly. Instead of launching, the apps either froze or showed repeated error messages. Platforms like Netflix, YouTube, Prime Video, and Samsung TV Plus were among the most affected, with users turning to social media to voice their concerns and seek solutions.
India was one of the countries hit, with a significant spike in user complaints on DownDetector. The problem reportedly impacted both newly purchased TVs and older models, with no clear pattern based on region or TV version.
Several users reported seeing a “loading error” or simply being unable to start the apps altogether. Some attempted resetting their TVs or reinstalling apps, but most efforts failed to resolve the issue.
Samsung has yet to offer a confirmation of the root cause of the issue, initial indications suggest a server-side glitch or a failure in app integration with Samsung’s Smart Hub platform.
As of now, users are advised to keep their devices connected to the internet and watch for firmware or software updates that could help resolve the issue.
