USA pacer Shadley van Schalkwyk has climbed up to the top of the wicket-taking charts in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. After dismantling India at Wankhede, the veteran put on a show in the PAK vs USA clash in Colombo on Tuesday. With identical figures of 4/25 in both games, van Schalkwyk has 8 wickets in just two games in the tournament.

Days after running through India's top order, the South African was at it once again in the game against Pakistan. The Men in Green got off to a flyer with Sahibzada Farhan batting in full flow. Pakistan openers put on a half-century stand inside 5 overs.

Just like in the India game, USA turned to van Schalkwyk to bowl the final over of the powerplay. The 37-year-old made instant impact dismissing Saim Ayub for 19. He followed it up with the wicket of Pakistan captain Salman Agha to put the breaks on the Pakistan innings.

Later in the innings, Schalkwyk dismissed the big hitting Shadab Khan. Khan was batting on 30 off just 11 balls when the former South African seamer got him trying to fetch another big hit. Faheem Ashraf was his last victim as he ended with figures of 4/25. On a day when USA conceded 190, Shadley van Schalkwyk conceded just 25 in his four overs.

Schalkwyk is the leading wicket-taker in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2026 with 8 scalps to his name. He leapfrogs Romario Shepherd and Michael Leask, both who have 5 wickets to their name. Shepherd however has played only one game and will be in action again on Wednesday.
