Mohammad Siraj and Virat Kohli were once teammates and shared special bond while playing together at Royal Challengers Bangalore. In IPL 2025 the ex teammates are now set to face each other as rivals with Gujarat Titans hoping to upset RCB in their own backyard.

How important was Kohli's role in Siraj's career?

Mohammed Siraj was picked dup by RCB in 2018 thanks to his raw pace and talent. Siraj mad ehis IPL debut under Virat Kohli's captaincy and evolved as a dependable pacer. Kohli guide the pacer in his early struggles and helped him refine his skills.

However ahead of IPL 2025 season, RCB decided to let go Siraj in the mega auction. What was even more shocking was their decision to not bid for him or use the Right to Match (RTM) card. In an intense battle Gujarat Titans (GT) made a stunning bid of ₹12.25 crore to acquire Siraj.

Siraj, penned an emotional letter thanking RCB supporters and expressing his gratitude for their unwavering support.

The table toppers Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will face the Gujarat Titans on April 2, Wednesday at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. RCB comes into the ficture after dominating wins over Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings in their backyard. With a fine balance between batters, bowlers and all-rounders, the three-time finalists have thrived well on two different conditions.

The Titans, meanwhile, bounced back well after conceding 243 against the Punjab Kings as they beat the Mumbai Indians by 36 runs, thereby getting on board. With their top three in good form, the Titans will feel confident but they require Rashid Khan to return to form, having been struggling for a while now.
