'Joining Maharashtra Team Will Help...': Prithvi Shaw Reveals Reason Behind Leaving Mumbai Team
Shaw is expected to participate in the ongoing D.B. Deodhar Tournament, an intra-state tournament conducted by the Maharashtra Cricket Association.

Discarded Team India opener Prithvi Shaw has officially joined the Maharashtra team after leaving Mumbai in search of more opportunities. Speaking about his latest move Shaw said, "At this stage of my career, | believe joining the Maharashtra team will help me grow further as a cricketer. | am deeply grateful to the Mumbai Cricket Association for the opportunities and support I have received over the years."
He added, "Maharashtra Cricket Association has made remarkable efforts in recent years to enhance cricketing infrastructure across the state. Initiatives like the Maharashtra Premier League, Women’s MPL, Corporate Shield, and D.B.Deodhar Tournament are testament to their vision. "
"I’m confident that being part of such a progressive setup will positively impact my journey as a cricketer. I’m happy to get the opportunity to play alongside talented players like Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ankit Bawne, Rahul Tripathi, Rajneesh Gurbani, and Mukesh Choudhary in the Maharashtra team."

Shaw was dropped by the Mumbai senior selection committee last year from a Ranji Trophy game due to poor fitness and was prescribed a two-week fitness programme prepared by the MCA trainers. The team management had informed MCA that Prithvi Shaw’s body contains 35 percent fat and that he needs rigorous training before he gets back into the side.
Shaw hasn’t played List A in India since the 2022 Vijay Hazare tournament; he turned out for the One Day Cup in England for Northamptonshire county. His last five innings there were 97, 72, 9, 23, 17. The last time he played for Mumbai, Shaw in his five innings had scored 32, 54, 39, 51, and 10.
