Tempers flared during the IND vs SL 4th T20I with India captain Harmanpreet Kaur hitting out at her teammates in the final over of the game. Harman urged her players to move around quickly in a bid to avoid an over rate penalty in Thiruvananthapuram. Harman's angry reaction has gone viral on social media after the game.
Captain Harmanpreet Kaur was in a fit of anger during the latter stages of the IND vs SL 4th T20I in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday. The Women in Blue were cruising to yet another win but Harman was seen angrily gesturing her teammates to get into their positions.
The India captain frenetically moved around the fielders before the final over of play, wanting to avoid the over rate penalty.
"We were getting short in time and I wanted everyone be on time. I didn't want three fielders outside the in-field. I try to improve from my mistakes," Harmanpreet said after the game.
India rode on Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma’s record partnership to clinch a victory. The opening duo put on 162, setting the platform for India’s highest women's T20I total of 221/2.
Having had a quiet series so far given her lofty standards, Mandhana was in her elements as her drives were crisp and so were the hits on the on-side, where each of her three sixes were hit.
While both Mandhana and Shafali fell in quick succession, the hard-hitting Richa pummelled four fours and three sixes for her 40 not out while adding 53 runs for the unbroken third wicket with Harmanpreet as India zoomed past the 200-run mark.
After Mandhana and Shafali set the platform, Vaishnavi bowled an impressive 4-0-24-2 to help the home side record a commanding win.
