Former Team India middle-order batter Suresh Raina heaped praise on Rohit Sharma ahead of the 2025 Champions Trophy. The retired Indian cricketer opined that Rohit has a flawless technique and ensures there is no one better on this planet when the right-hander is in his zone.
Even as the 37-year-old continues to struggle in red-ball cricket, he is a bona fide run-getter when it comes to the 50-over format. In 265 ODIs, the classy opener has amassed 10866 runs at 49.16 alongside 31 centuries. The veteran had a stellar 2023 ODI World Cup campaign, headlined by more than 400 runs but failed in the final hurdle as captain as Australia won the final.
Speaking on Star Sports' Star Nahi Far show, Raina said:
"Jab aap Rohit Sharma ka naam lete ho, tab lagta hai woh 20-25 over khel jaayenge, kyunki unke paas ek flawless technique hai. Itna time hai batting karne ke liye. Jab woh apne zone mein aate hain, toh mujhe nahin lagta hai unse best batsman koi world mein hoga."
(When you speak of Rohit Sharma, it feels like he will play 20-25 overs because he has a flawless technique. He has so much time to bat. When he comes into that zone, there's hardly a better batter than him.)
Rohit Sharma to finetune himself for Champions Trophy 2025 through ODI series against England
Meanwhile, the prolific right-handed batter will finetune himself for the Champions Trophy with the three-game ODI series against England. The Men in Blue are currently engaged in a five-game T20I series against England and are 2-0 up after a couple of games.
India will open their Champions Trophy campaign against Bangladesh on February 20 in Dubai.
