Suryakumar Yadav changed the scenario of the match by taking a brilliant catch of David Miller in the T20 World Cup 2024 Final at the Kensington Oval in Barbados' Bridgetown on Saturday, June 29.

Team India finally ended their 11-year ICC title drought with a thrilling seven-run win over Proteas, who played their first World Cup Final in their cricketing history. When Team India needed just 16 off 6 balls, Hardik Pandya was brought into the attack by Rohit Sharma and he held his nerves as he picked a crucial wicket of David Miller and conceded just seven runs to secure a win for the Men in Blue.

Miller's wicket changed the entire scenario of the match as Suryakumar Yadav took a catch to dismiss him. The dismissal took place on the first ball of the final over of the match when Miller attempted a six towards long-off off Hardik Pandya's full toss delivery. But, Suryakumar appeared nowhere to pluck the ball and juggled it up as he was going over the boundary ropes before he came back in to take the catch.

Chasing a 177-run target set by India, South Africa lost two early wickets in Reeza Hendricks (4) and Aiden Markram (4) for 12 runs. However, Quinton de Kock and Tristan Stubbs stabilized Proteas' batting with 58-run partnership until Jasprit Bumrah dismissed the latter for 31 at 70/3. Quinton de Kock's stay at the crease ended after he was dismissed by Arshdeep Singh for 39 off 31 balls at 106/4.

Thereafter, Heinrich Klaasen anchored South Africa's innings and took on Axar Patel by smashing him 24 runs in the 15th over. However, the momentum of the match shifted in favour of Team India after Hardik Pandya got rid of Klaasen for 52 at 151/5. After Klaasen's dismissal, South Africa lost the momentum as they lost three wickets in Marco Jansen (2), David Miller (21) and Kagiso Rabada (4) for 17 runs and eventually restricted to 168/8, falling 9 runs short of achieving 177-run target set by Team India.

For India, Hardik Pandya led the bowling attack as he registered figures 3/20 with an economy rate of 5 in four overs, while Arshdeep Singh (2/20) and Jasprit Bumrah (2/18) picked two wickets each.
