Novak Djokovic shocked fans worldwide after deciding to withdraw from the Australian Open 2025 semi-finals due to injury. Djokovic who was playing Alexander Zverev for a place in the final lost the first set 7-6 before he decided not to continue playing in the match. The 10-time Australian Open champion faced criticism and boos and he replied his doubters by posting an image of his MRI scan, confirming a tear in his left hamstring

Djokovic was booed by the crowd at the Rod Laver Arena when he waved a at them and showed thumbs up. During the on court interview Zverev slammed the crowd for their behaviour.
He said, "The very first thing I want to say is please don't boo when a player is injured," said Zverev in his on-court interview. I know everyone paid for tickets but Novak Djokovic is someone who has given everything to the sport.He has won this title with an abdominal injury, he has won this title with a hamstring injury. If he cannot continue a tennis match, he really cannot continue a tennis match."
For Djokovic, the quest for a record 25th Grand Slam title is on hold for now. At 37, time may not be on his side, but the Serbian legend remains resolute in his pursuit of future success. On the other hand, Zverev now turns his focus to the final, where he will chase his first Grand Slam title against Jannik Sinner.
