Pune Metro generated ₹6.73 crore in revenue in the month of February, while the ridership was 43.07 lakh, according to the data on its website.
The Ramwadi to Vanaz line contributed more — ₹3.71 crore with a ridership of 24.47 lakh — compared to the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) to Swargate line, which raked in ₹3.01 crore with a ridership of 18.59 lakh, the data showed.
The numbers in February are slightly lower compared to January, which is also due to the fact that February had only 28 days while January had 31.
In January, Pune Metro had generated ₹7.87 crore in revenue, while the ridership was 49.69 lakh. The Ramwadi to Vanaz line contributed ₹4.22 crore with a ridership of 27.66 lakh, while the PCMC to Swargate line raked in ₹3.64 crore with a ridership of 21.98 lakh.
Meanwhile, the operation of Metro Line 3 (Shivajinagar to Hinjawadi) is likely to commence only by the end of this year, as the concessionaire has sought an extension till September to execute the project. With two coaches already in place, trial runs are expected to begin in October or November, following the completion of construction in September.
"Currently, 83-85% of work has been completed, while the integrated flyover at University Chowk is expected to be completed by April," a senior official from Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) said.
