Pune: Man Attacks Wife With Blade After She Refuses Divorce In Pimpri-Chinchwad’s Kalewadi; Arrested
According to police reports, the complainant woman was at her place of work in Thergaon’s MM Chowk when her husband and his friend came on a motorcycle. They argued over why she doesn’t give him a divorce and also alleged she has an illicit relationship with another person at her workplace

Kalewadi: A man in Pimpri-Chinchwad's Kalewadi area attacked his wife with a blade, severely injuring her. The reason behind the attack was the woman’s refusal of his divorce and separation proposal. The couple have two children, both boys. The man has been arrested. The incident happened on Saturday morning in the Thergaon area.

A 22-year-old woman has complained to the Kalewadi Police Station. Kalewadi Police have arrested her husband, Salman Ramjan Shaikh (age 29, resident of Vijay Nagar) and his friend, Huzefa Aabed Shaikh (age 27, resident of Bharat Mata Chowk; native of Beed). They have been booked under the BNS Sections 109 (attempt to murder), 351 (criminal intimidation), 3(5) (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention), and relevant sections of the Criminal Law Amendment Act of 2013.
According to police reports, the complainant woman was at her place of work in Thergaon’s MM Chowk when her husband and his friend came on a motorcycle. They argued over why she doesn’t give him a divorce and also alleged she has an illicit relationship with another person at her workplace. Attempting to kill her, the man attacked her with a blade aimed at her neck. However, she dodged, but in the scuffle, the complainant sustained injuries on her hands, head, cheeks, and ear. She is currently undergoing treatment.

A police official told the Free Press Journal, "The couple got married a few years ago. They have two boys. They had constant arguments. The woman lives with her children, separated from her husband, because he is involved in criminal activities. He has a record of theft, assaults, and other similar crimes." Police also said the accused husband was suspicious of her character and alleged that she had an affair. He wanted a divorce, but the woman refused, leading to the attack.
Kalewadi Police produced the duo in court, and both have been given three days’ police custody in the case. Police Sub-Inspector Shantanu Naiknimbalkar is investigating the matter further.
