The Khadakwasla dam, one of Pune's key water sources, has reached a promising 48.86% storage as of May 28, bringing slight relief amid ongoing water concerns. This comes as the collective water stock in the four major dams supplying water to Pune — Khadakwasla, Panshet, Temghar, and Warasgaon — stands at 19.64%, marginally higher than the 19.14% recorded on the same date last year.
The water level was at 53.40% on March 11.
Official records reveal that the cumulative water storage of the Khadakwasla reservoir stands at 48.86% as of May 28.
Water levels are expected to increase now that the monsoon has arrived in the state.
Panshet reservoir is at 17.78%, while Temghar stands at 3.88%. Additionally, the Warasgaon dam stands at 21.24% capacity.
While Pavana's water level lies at 28.61% and Kasarsai at 30.82%, Mulshi stands at 23.80%.
Heavy rains in dist
Heavy rains lashed Baramati, Indapur and Daunda tehsils on Sunday, prompting the National Disaster Response Force to deploy two specialised teams on the urgent request of the district collector.
The May rain recorded in the three tehsils are unprecedented in the last 50 years, Pawar said while carrying out an inspection of affected areas with Collector Jitendra Dudi.
