Nanded: Over 1.50 Crore Women Benefit From Mahila Samman Scheme In MSRTC Buses

The state government has started the Mahila Samman Scheme, providing a 50% concession on fares in Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) buses across the state. More than 1.50 crore women have benefited from the scheme so far in the district. Senior citizens in the district have also availed themselves of the concession, informed MSRTC depot controller Dr Chandrakant Wadaskar.
The previous government had announced the Mahila Sannaman scheme, offering women passengers a 50% concession on bus fares. The scheme received an overwhelming response from women in a very short time.
Similarly, the number of women passengers traveling from Nanded district has increased considerably. Between January 1, 2024, and December 31, 2024, 1,57,78,798 women passengers benefited from the scheme, availing the 50% fare concession.
The scheme for senior citizens also received a good response. Senior citizens between the ages of 64 and 75 years were given a 50% concession in fares. In total, 21,69,465 senior citizens benefited from the scheme. In the Senior Citizen Amrut Scheme, senior citizens above the age of 75 years were given a 100% concession in fares, with 1,61,98,149 senior citizens benefiting from the scheme last year.
