A mob-lynching incident has claimed the life of Suleiman Rahimkhan Pathan, a 21-year-old man in Jamner. He was attacked by a mob while he was on his way to apply for police recruitment. He hailed from Betawad Khurd and succumbed to injuries sustained during the assault by Monday evening.
Suleiman, who completed education till 12th standard, had been preparing for police recruitment. On Monday afternoon, he traveled from his village of Betawad Khurd to Jamner to submit his police recruitment application.
While sitting in a cafe in Jamner, Suleiman was approached by a group of local youths who became suspicious of his presence and his intention to file a police application. The group of people forcibly took him out of the cafe and assaulted him, before he managed to escape.
Suleiman was able to return back to his hometown Betawad Khurd, and recounted the experience to his parents. However, his condition rapidly deteriorated, and he collapsed at home. His family rushed him to Jamner Upazila Hospital, where he was declared dead upon arrival.
The news of Suleiman’s death spread quickly, sparking outrage. A group of people gathered at the Jamner Police Station, staging a sit-in protest to demand justice for the young man’s death. The demonstration created significant tension in the town.
Recognizing the unrest, Superintendent of Police Maheshwar Reddy traveled to Jamner to address the situation. He pacified the crowd and assured them that the matter would be thoroughly investigated and the law and order was restored.
Following an FIR with the Jamner Police Station. The police investigation identified ten suspects and detained two individuals.
