Western Railway has been transporting between 400 to 500 vehicles every month for Mahindra Logistics Limited to various eastern states. These vehicles are being loaded from the Jogeshwari Goods Yard in Mumbai. This is not only helping to reduce the load on the roads but also contributing to the reduction in carbon emissions.

According to Western Railway officials, from April to July 21 this year, a total of 17 automobile rakes primarily consisting of cars have been dispatched to states including Bihar, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha. Each rake carries approximately 100 vehicles, which means over 1,700 vehicles have already been transported in just under four months.

This movement underscores the growing reliance on railways for cost-effective and efficient automobile transportation across long distances. The Jogeshwari Goods Yard has emerged as a strategic hub for vehicle loading, playing a crucial role in meeting the logistics demands of the automotive sector.

Railway authorities stated that they are committed to supporting the logistics industry and are working to enhance infrastructure and turnaround time to accommodate the increasing demand for rail-based automobile transport.
