In a major operation aimed at reclaiming public land, Western Railway, in coordination with multiple law enforcement agencies, conducted a large-scale encroachment removal drive today on the south-east side of Bandra, near the Tansa Pipeline.
The joint action, involving over 225 personnel, successfully cleared around 780 square meters of railway land, previously occupied by unauthorized structures. A total of 45 makeshift dwellings made of bamboo, tarpaulin, and plastic sheets were dismantled during the operation.
According to WR, demolition drive was carried out under tight security, with teams from the Railway Protection Force (RPF), Government Railway Police (GRP), local police and engineering staff from the railway department working in coordination. Despite the scale of the operation, officials confirmed that it was executed smoothly and without incident.
"This is part of a broader effort to safeguard crucial railway infrastructure from illegal encroachments," said a senior Western Railway official. "Protecting these corridors is essential not just for railway operations, but also for public safety."
Authorities emphasized that regular checks and strict action will continue to ensure encroachment-free zones along vital transport routes.
