In a move aimed at enhancing passenger convenience and accommodating the increasing demand for long-distance travel, Western Railway has announced the permanent addition of an extra AC 3-Tier coach to the prestigious Train No. 12953/12954 Mumbai Central – Hazrat Nizamuddin August Kranti Tejas Rajdhani Express.
The additional coach will be operational from May 7, 2025 on the Mumbai Central departure and from May 8, 2025 on the return leg from Hazrat Nizamuddin, significantly increasing the train’s capacity. Each new AC 3-Tier coach can carry approximately 72 passengers, which will help in clearing waitlists and offering better travel options for commuters between Mumbai and Delhi.
Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, Vineet Abhishek, stated that the August Kranti Tejas Rajdhani Express is known for its speed, punctuality, and superior onboard services, making it a preferred travel choice on the busy Mumbai-Delhi route. The augmentation is part of Western Railway's continued efforts to improve passenger experience and address growing travel needs.
This enhancement is expected to provide much-needed relief during peak travel periods and underscores Indian Railways’ commitment to better connectivity and comfort.
