The Kalwa police have registered a case and also arrested three persons for threatening to kill a 25-year-old man from Kalwa on Saturday, July 2. A 25-year-old man asked the three accused to not to tear the posters of the newly elected chief minister of Maharashtra Eknath Shinde.

The three accused tore down the congratulatory posters of Eknath Shinde when they were intoxicated.

After ten days of power struggle in Maharashtra, Eknath Shinde was sworn in as the chief minister of Maharashtra on Thursday and the Thane district is the stronghold of Shinde. The congratulatory posters have been put up by Shinde supporters at various places in the Thane district. One such poster was put up near the Tulja Bhavani temple in the Mahatma Phule Nagar area of Kalwa to wish Eknath Shinde. Devanand Kamble (25) a local resident of Kalwa went out for exercise at 5 am on Friday and during this time he noticed that three people were tearing the posters of Eknath Shinde and when Kamble prevented them he was threatened that he would be killed.

Kalwa police officials on the condition of anonymity informed, "The complainant Devanand Kamble when asked the three accused not to tear the congratulatory poster of Eknath Shinde then the three accused picked up the bamboo which was kept nearby and asked him to leave from there otherwise they would kill him. Afraid of the threat Kamble registered the complaint with Kalwa police station."

Police officials further added, "We have registered a case under Indian Penal Code (IPC) section 506 against the three accused. We have arrested Bhima Salve (30), Rohan Chavan (28), and Avinash Kale (22). They tore the poster of Eknath Shinde while intoxicated. The accused said that they have done the act under the influence of alcohol and they don't have any affiliation with any political party."
