Navi Mumbai: The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) took decisive action against unauthorized constructions in Koparkhairane after property owners failed to comply with official notices.
Under the directives of Municipal Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde and the supervision of Additional Commissioner (2) Dr. Rahul Gethe and Deputy Commissioner (Encroachment) Bhagwat Doiphode, the encroachment department carried out an eviction drive in the area.
Notices were issued on February 20, 2025, under Section 54 of the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning Act, 1966, to residents of S.S. Type buildings in Sector 17, Koparkhairane.
The affected structures belonged to Maruti Bapu Jagdale (Room No. 510), Vishnu Shankar Sutar (Room No. 512), and Jay Singh Yashwant Patil (Room No. 511). Despite prior warnings, the property owners failed to take action, leading to the demolition of the unauthorized structures.
The eviction drive was carried out using two electronic hammers, a pickup van, and a team of eight laborers. The operation was conducted in the presence of Airoli Division’s Assistant Commissioner and Divisional Officer Vasant Mundavare, Junior Engineer Chandrakant Dhotre, officials from G Division (Airoli), and the Encroachment Police Team.
The NMMC has warned that similar crackdowns will continue in the future to curb illegal constructions and ensure compliance with municipal regulations.
