Navi Mumbai: Kalamboli police has arrested four highway robbers who allegedly assaulted and looted a man traveling from Mahad to visit relatives in Kamothe. The arrest comes after a late-night robbery incident and a swift follow-up operation that included a chase up to Kopra village in Kharghar.
The incident occurred around 1 a.m. on April 13, when Swapnil Sakpal (33), a resident of Mahad, was walking near the Roadpali signal on his way to Kalamboli Circle. He was suddenly confronted by four individuals on two motorcycles—a KTM and a Pulsar—near Bima Complex. The group attacked Sakpal, beat him up, and robbed him of the cash he was carrying before fleeing the scene.
Sakpal immediately reported the robbery to the police control room. Responding quickly, Kalamboli police chased the suspects to Kopra village, but they managed to escape on their bikes. Initially, Sakpal hesitated to file a formal complaint due to fear and because the stolen amount was small.
However, the very next night, the same group was spotted again near Kalamboli Circle. Recognizing them, Sakpal alerted the police, who rushed to the location and arrested the four suspects—Ashraf Aslam Khan (22), Karan Durgesh Chavan (22), Sujar Dayanand Bind (22), and Navnath Vitthal Waghmare (25).
