Mumbai–Jalna Vande Bharat Extended To Nanded, Fulfilling Long-Pending Sikh Pilgrim Demand

The Railway ministry has approved the extension of the Mumbai–Jalna Vande Bharat Express up to Nanded, marking a moment of immense pride and joy for the Sikh community and the Guru Nanak Leva Sangat across Maharashtra and India. Confirming the development, a senior officer of Central Railway said, "Yes, and it is likely to start shortly."

"This move fulfills a decades-long demand actively led by the Maharashtra Sikh Association (MSA), with the support of several Sikh and social organizations. The announcement has been warmly welcomed by lakhs of devotees who undertake pilgrimages to Hazur Sahib, Nanded — one of the five Takhts (seats of authority) of the Sikh faith — where Guru Gobind Singh Ji spent his final days," stated a release issued by the community.

As per the statement issued by the community on Sunday, Train No. 20705 (Nanded–Mumbai) will depart at 5:00 AM and reach Mumbai by 2:25 PM, halting at Parbhani, Jalna, and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. In the return direction, Train No. 20706 (Mumbai–Nanded) will leave at 1:10 pm and arrive in Nanded by 10:50 pm, with halts at Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, and Parbhani.

"The launch of this high-speed, semi-bullet service is set to enhance comfort and connectivity for pilgrims, tourists, and residents alike. It is also a tribute to the spiritual, cultural, and historical significance of Nanded in the Sikh faith and Indian heritage," said Bal Malkit Singh, Convenor of the Maharashtra Sikh Association (MSA).

“This is a moment of historic satisfaction for the entire Sikh and Guru Nanak Leva Sangat. For many years, we have pursued this demand with commitment and unity. With the blessings of the Guru and the support of the community, today our voice has been heard. We sincerely thank the Prime Minister, the Central and State Governments, and the Railway Board for recognizing the religious, cultural, and national importance of Hazur Sahib, Nanded. This Vande Bharat route will be a lifeline for lakhs of pilgrims,” Singh further added.
