'Mumbai–Dighi, Mumbai–Kashid Ro-Ro Services To Begin By March': Nitesh Rane |
Maharashtra’s Minister for Fisheries and Ports, Nitesh Rane, has directed that the Mumbai–Dighi and Mumbai–Kashid Ro-Ro ferry services, aimed at making travel from Mumbai to Konkan smoother and faster, be operational by the end of March.
Rane issued the instructions during a meeting held at the state secretariat, attended by Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare, Maharashtra Maritime Board CEO P. Pradeep, and other officials.
Ro-Ro Service to Boost Mumbai–Konkan Connectivity
Emphasising the importance of the project, Rane said the Ro-Ro service would be an excellent alternative for travel from Mumbai to the Konkan region, significantly reducing travel time. He instructed officials to expedite jetty construction at both Dighi and Kashid. He also directed that proposals for necessary approvals be sent and sanctioned while construction is ongoing so that all work can be completed by March-end.
Diesel Subsidy for Fishing Boats
During the meeting, MLA Mahesh Baldi joined discussions on diesel subsidies for fishing boats. Rane assured that no eligible fishing vessel would be deprived of the diesel refund benefit. He urged fishing societies to make their boats available for inspection by the fisheries department and called for a satisfactory resolution for fishermen on this matter.
Alibaug Jetty to be Ready Before Diwali
Rane further instructed that the construction work for the Alibaug jetty be completed before Diwali, ensuring improved infrastructure for both transport and fisheries operations in the region.
