Mumbai Rains: Water Levels In Seven Lakes Of City Reach 85%; Intense Rains Promise Rise In Storage

Mumbai: The most recent update on lake levels at 6:00 AM on July 22, shows a notable rise in water storage among different lakes. The total storage capacity in the lakes amounts to 1,234,836 million liters, that is total of 85.32% reflecting a significant increase in water levels.

Water Levels In Seven Lakes Of Mumbai

The water level of Upper Vaitarna lake is at 601.87 meters, reflecting a rise of 0.04 meters, with a current storage of 174,007 million liters. The water level of Modak Sagar Lake stands at 163.15 meters, increasing by 0.22 meters, with a storage capacity of 128,925 million litres. Tansa Lake stands at an elevation of 128.22 meters, rising by 0.23 meters, and has a capacity of 137,231 million litres.

The level of the Middle Vaitarna lake stands at 283.26 meters, showing an increase of 0.19 meters, with a total of 183,685 million litres. The level of Bhatsa Lake stands at 137.30 meters, rising by 1.20 meters, with total storage amounting to 590,809 million litres. Veher Lake's elevation is at 77.72 meters, increasing by 0.15 meters, holding 15,552 million litres.

Today, the city has received 58.00 mm of rain, bringing the total rainfall to 929.00 mm. Multiple operational updates have been recorded, including the initiation of discharge from Upper Vaitarna on July 5, 2025, at 16:30 hours.

Gate numbers 1 and 5 at Middle Vaitarna Lake were opened on July 7, 2025, at 1:15 PM. Furthermore, Modak Sagar Dam started to overflow on July 9, 2025, at 06:27 AM.
