Mumbai: The Powai police have booked a candidate for allegedly cheating in the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) examination. The supervisor found a mobile phone, which the candidate, Shubham Patil, 28, had thrown into a dustbin. On the phone, 17 exam-related photos were found.
MIDC conducted the exam on August 9 at 9am at the TCS iON Digital Zone (TIDZ), Powai. At 9.40am, supervisor Sonal Masurkar saw a mobile-like object at a system where Patil was seated. On questioning, he seemed nervous and denied having a mobile, which was later found in the bathroom. Upon inquiry, he admitted it was his. He has been booked under the Maharashtra Prevention of Malpractices at University, Board and Other Specified Examinations Act, and Section 318 (cheating) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
