Mumbai Police Arrest Electrician Accused, Seize 20 Kg Ganja In Crackdown

Mumbai: In a major crackdown, police have arrested an accused who was allegedly selling marijuana under the guise of working as an electrician. A total of 20 kg and 700 grams of ganja has been seized from his possession. The accused has been identified as Mohd. Farooq Mohd. Haroon Khan (32). He was arrested by the Azad Maidan Anti-Narcotics Unit.

According to police sources, the accused is a resident of Wadala and worked as an electrician. However, in an attempt to earn more money, he ventured into the illegal drug trade about a year ago. While travelling to various locations for work, he reportedly built a customer base through word-of-mouth publicity.

Investigations revealed that the accused used his two-wheeler to deliver ganja. He allegedly sourced the contraband in bulk from Pune and Navi Mumbai and supplied it across Mumbai. He was particularly active in the New Cuffe Parade area.

To evade police detection, the accused carried out deliveries only after 1 am, which helped him stay under the radar for a long time. It has also come to light that he earned a profit of approximately ₹1,000 per kilogram of ganja.

The accused lives with his wife and two children and is believed to have taken up the illegal trade to support his household expenses. He had no prior criminal record, but this case has exposed his involvement in narcotics trafficking.

Police laid a trap and successfully apprehended him, seizing the entire stock of contraband. Further investigation is underway to determine whether other individuals are involved in the racket.
