Mumbai: Over 2,000 IndiGo Airline Employees Join BJP Ahead Of BMC Election

Mumbai: In a significant political development ahead of the municipal election, more than 2,000 IndiGo airline employees joined the BJP at its state office in Mumbai on Tuesday. The induction, led by BJP state organiser Ravindra Chavan, marks a strategic shift as many of these employees were previously associated with the Bhartiya Kamgar Sena, a labour union linked to the Shiv Sena (UBT).

BJP Intensifies Its Efforts To Expand Its Support Base

With elections on the horizon, the BJP has intensified its efforts to expand its support base, particularly among labour unions. Labour unions from airports, MTNL and the hotel industry play a crucial role at the ground level during elections. Until now, most of these unions in Mumbai were aligned with the Shiv Sena (UBT). However, the BJP is making efforts to bring them into its fold, and the induction of IndiGo employees is a part of this strategy.

Speaking at the programme, BJP executive president Ravindra Chavan emphasised that the party remains dedicated to the nation’s interests with the spirit of ‘Nation First’. He stated that the central government, Priome M Narendra Modi and the government in Maharashtra, under Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, are consistently working towards the welfare of employees.
