Mumbai News: RPF Borivali Apprehends Over 1,400 Offenders In 12-Day Rail Crackdown Across Churchgate–Virar Route

Mumbai: In a determined effort to restore order and ensure rule compliance across the Mumbai suburban rail network, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) Borivali conducted a 12-day special enforcement campaign from July 9 to July 20, 2025.
Sayaji Nagari Express Raid Yields 244 Offenders
During the drive, 1,393 offenders were caught, including illegal hawkers, eunuchs, and persons traveling in coaches reserved for the differently-abled and women. Apart from that, during the drive, a special raid was conducted on the Sayaji Nagari Express, and 244 offenders were caught, including hawkers, eunuchs, etc.
Operation Supervised by Borivali Inspector, Led by SI Santosh Soni and ASI Dharmveer Singh
The operation, conducted under the supervision of the Inspector of Borivali and led by Sub-Inspector Santosh Soni and Assistant Sub-Inspector Dharmveer Singh, focused primarily on the busy Churchgate–Virar corridor.
The drive targeted unauthorized hawkers, beggars, eunuchs, and passengers misusing reserved compartments such as the Divyang (differently-abled) and ladies’ coaches. According to officials, the initiative aimed to ensure lawful travel and safeguard the rights of genuine commuters who rely on reserved spaces for their daily commute.
288 Hawkers and 34 Eunuchs Caught in Non-AC Locals; 10 Hawkers and 66 Eunuchs in AC Locals
During the campaign, 288 hawkers were apprehended in non-AC local trains, along with 34 eunuchs found illegally occupying non-AC compartments. In AC locals, 10 unauthorized hawkers and 66 eunuchs were similarly caught violating railway regulations.
The most significant category of offenders included those found illegally traveling in coaches reserved for the differently-abled, with 889 individuals nabbed for such violations. In addition, 80 people were found misusing ladies’ coaches by entering without authorization, while 14 individuals were caught trespassing on railway property.
Rescue of Minors Under 'Nanhe Farishte' Initiative
The RPF also rescued several children as part of the ongoing “Nanhe Farishte” initiative, which aims to protect vulnerable minors found on railway premises. Furthermore, 244 individuals, including unauthorized hawkers and eunuchs, were caught illegally traveling on the Sayaji Nagari Express.
In total, the crackdown led to the apprehension of 1,637 individuals, with legal or corrective action taken in each case based on the nature of the offense.
RPF Vows Continued Enforcement to Maintain Safety and Order on Trains
The RPF emphasized that such enforcement efforts are crucial to maintaining discipline on trains and ensuring a safe and respectful environment for all passengers.
