Mumbai News: Over 80 Unauthorised Slum Structures Cleared In Joint Operation Near Dahisar-Borivali Stations; See Pics

In a significant move to reclaim public space and curb unauthorized encroachments, a well-coordinated operation was carried out on the East Side between Dahisar and Borivali stations to remove approximately 80 unauthorized slum dwellings. "The operation, which took place on April 29, 2025, was executed smoothly and efficiently with the involvement of multiple law enforcement agencies and support from Western Railways' Engineering Department." said an official.

Under the direct supervision of the Borivali RPF Inspector and with support from GRP Senior Police Inspector, along with the city police, the operation was conducted in a highly organized manner. A total of around 110 security personnel, including 33 RPF personnel and 70 GRP officers, were deployed to ensure the operation was carried out peacefully and without incident. In addition, city police personnel, led by a police inspector, were also on-site to assist with security and maintain public order during the removal process.

Western Railways' Engineering Department contributed significantly to the operation, with workers assisting in the dismantling of the unauthorized structures. The materials, primarily consisting of iron sheets and bamboo, were gathered by the Infrastructure Office Workers (IOW) and subsequently stored in the department’s warehouse.

"The primary objective of this operation was to eliminate encroachments that had been affecting the safety and accessibility of public spaces, and it forms part of an ongoing effort by local authorities to maintain a safer environment for residents and commuters" further added an official.
