Mumbai: After three decades on the run, the Pydhonie Police have arrested a 50-year-old man, Ijaz Shahjahan Shaikh, who had been absconding for 32 years in connection with a 1992 robbery case.
Shaikh was initially arrested in 1992, and his trial had begun in the Sessions Court. However, he failed to appear for court hearings, prompting the court to declare him an absconder.
Over the years, he managed to evade arrest by frequently changing locations. A special team led by Assistant Police Inspector Santosh Rasam had been tracking Shaikh for years but was unable to locate him due to his constant movement.

Recently, the police received a tip-off that Shaikh was working as a security guard at a construction site in Bohri Mohalla, J.J. Marg. Acting swiftly, the police laid a trap and successfully arrested him. Following his re-arrest, Shaikh was produced in court and has now been remanded to judicial custody, officials confirmed.
