Mumbai Crime: Police Seize 5 Country-Made Pistols, 11 Cartridges In Arms Crackdown; 2 Arrested In Sewri And Kurla
In a major crackdown on illegal arms, the Mumbai Police have seized five country-made pistols and 11 live cartridges in two separate operations conducted in Sewri and Kurla. Two individuals, including a youth from Uttar Pradesh, have been arrested in connection with the illegal arms.

Mumbai: In a major crackdown on illegal arms, the Mumbai Police have seized five country-made pistols and 11 live cartridges in two separate operations conducted in Sewri and Kurla. Two individuals, including a youth from Uttar Pradesh, have been arrested in connection with the illegal arms.
According to the FIR registered by Sewri Police, one of the arrested accused, Ajaykumar Sarveshkumar Diwakar,24, a resident of Naubasta, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, was caught red-handed near the Self-styled Ichhapurti Ganpati Mandir behind BPT Container Road, Dockyard, Mumbai at around 2:34 PM on June 26.
The police laid a trap and apprehended Diwakar while he was in possession of weapons and ammunition. From his possession, police recovered four country-made pistols and 10 live cartridges, three separate magazines, and a mobile phone.
Diwakar is currently being interrogated as police probe deeper into the possible supply chain and links to arms trafficking.
Later the same day, at around 7:45 PM, Crime Branch Unit 5 conducted another operation in Kurla West. Acting on a tip-off, Crime Branch arrested another accused, Pappu Manojkumar Sharma,34, an electrician residing in Nehru Garden, Chunabhatti.
The accused Sharma was allegedly trying to sell a country-made pistol with live cartridges near Maharashtra Weighbridge on LBS Road, Kurla West. Crime Branch Unit 5 conducted the operation and took him into custody.
Both suspects have been charged under relevant sections of the Arms Act, and further investigation is underway to uncover potential connections to wider illegal arms networks operating in and outside Maharashtra.
