Mumbai Crime: 35-Year-Old Uttar Pradesh Man Arrested With Illegal Country-Made Pistol In Cotton Green; Kalachowki Police Register Arms Act Case
The Kalachowki Police have arrested a 35-year-old man for possessing an illegal country-made firearm in Mumbai’s Cotton Green area on July 14. The accused, identified as Ashraf Shagir Sayyed, is a resident of Shahganj in Jaunpur district, Uttar Pradesh. He was apprehended during a police operation following a tip-off about suspicious activity in the area.

Mumbai: The Kalachowki Police have arrested a 35-year-old man for possessing an illegal country-made firearm in Mumbai’s Cotton Green area on July 14. The accused, identified as Ashraf Shagir Sayyed, is a resident of Shahganj in Jaunpur district, Uttar Pradesh. He was apprehended during a police operation following a tip-off about suspicious activity in the area.
According to the police, Sayyed was seen acting suspiciously near the godown area on the road leading to Reay Road station. Acting on a tip-off, a police team laid a trap and apprehended him around 3:45 PM. Upon searching him, officers recovered a country-made pistol along with live cartridges.
During the arrest, police also noted that fresh injuries from a physical assault were visible on his body. Authorities are currently investigating the source of the firearm and his intent behind bringing it into the city.

A case has been registered based on a complaint by Police Constable Prashant Pawar, 32. The charges include sections 3 and 25 of the Arms Act and section 37(1)(A) and 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act. Further investigation is underway.
