Thane: CM Shinde orders officials to speed up work on district super specialty hospital
The state government has approved to set up a 900-bed super speciality hospital on the site of Thane District Government Hospital and the capacity of this hospital will be tripled
Mumbai: The Maharashtra chief minister Eknath Shinde on Wednesday, July 6 while taking a review meeting at Thane's Collectorate office in Thane ordered the administration to start the work of Thane district super speciality hospital in 15 days.
In order to provide free quality health care to the patients of Thane and Palghar districts, the district hospital administration has decided to set up a 900-bed super speciality hospital.
Earlier the state government has approved to set up a 900-bed super speciality hospital on the site of Thane District Government Hospital and the capacity of this hospital will be tripled.
In addition, state-of-the-art treatment facilities like Neurology, Oncology and Onco Surgery Section, Cardiology and Cardio Vascular Section and Nephrology and Dialysis Section will be available at the hospital.
The state government has also sanctioned Rs 527.41 crore for the construction of nurse training center and hostel building.
The sanction of fund has paved the way for the construction of the hospital, but the Public Works Department(PWD) has not yet issued a tender for the work.
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde expressed his displeasure over the issue in a meeting on Wednesday.
Shinde asked the officials that why there was such a delay in issuing tenders to which officials replied that the tender process was being delayed due to technical difficulties of the power department.
Eknath Shinde ordered the officials to complete the tender process in the next fortnight after completing all the technical matters and start the actual work on a priority basis.
