Mumbai: 2 Foreign Passengers & 3 Staff Injured After Tourist Vehicle Crashes At CSMI Airport's T2 Departure Area; Driver Arrested

Mumbai: An accident occurred at Mumbai International Airport Terminal 2, injuring five individuals, including two foreigners and three crew members. On Sunday morning, a Mercedes car arrived at the airport to drop off passengers. While crossing a speed breaker, the driver mistakenly pressed the accelerator instead of the brake, causing the accident. No fatalities have been reported yet.

The Sahar police have filed a case against the Mercedes driver, Parshuram Dadanavare, 34, and subsequently arrested him. A police officer said that the driver was not under the influence of any intoxicating substances and we arrested him.

As per the police report, on February 2, around 9:30 am, a company-owned Mercedes car arrived at Mumbai International Airport to drop off passengers at Gate Number 1. After dropping them off, the driver was returning when, between gate number one and three, he encountered a speed breaker on a slope. He accidentally pressed the accelerator instead of the brake, leading to the accident.

Five individuals were injured in the crash—two citizens from the Czech Republic and three airline crew members. The two foreigners are currently receiving treatment at Nanavati Hospital in Vile Parle West, while the crew members are being treated at Cooper Hospital in Juhu. Fortunately, no one died in the accident, and all victims are out of danger.

The Mercedes driver works for a private company based in Navi Mumbai and resides in Turbhe, Navi Mumbai. A case has been filed under Sections 281 (rash driving), 125(a), and 125(b) (Act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita on Sunday. "This morning at CSMIA, a driver lost control of his car in T2's departure lane, injuring five people. The airport medical team immediately rushed to the spot to provide first aid. The injured have been admitted to hospital for treatment. CSMIA is working with the police and other teams to ensure the safety of passengers and continuation of operations," a spokesperson with CSMIA said.
