Moderate to heavy rainfall in Mumbai for next two days: IMD

Mumbai witnessed few spells of heavy rainfall over the city on Tuesday, meanwhile the Indian Meterological Department (IMD) has predicted cloudy weather with moderate rainfall in the city and suburbs with possibility of heavy rainfall at isolated places for the next two days.
According to IMD official, K S Hosalikar, “Some monsoon favourable conditions have been observed in the latest satellite and within the Mumbai radar which shows cloud bands penetrating over North Konkan including Mumbai, Thane, parts of Palghar and Raigad.”
“Due to these observations, the IMD has predicted moderate to heavy rainfall over most parts of Mumbai city and suburbs for the next two days,” added the official.
The IMD also observed International Lightning Safety Day on Tuesday, aiming at “zero casualty by lightning and thunderstorms in the country”.
“With the improved location specific thunderstorm lightning warnings by IMD for both 24 and 48 hours, supported with 3 hourly ‘Nowcast Warnings’ with radar and satellites, the IMD is aiming at Zero casualty caused due to lightning,” added Hosalikar.
On Tuesday, the minimum temperature recorded in Santacruz was 26.0 °C and maximum was 32.0°C, also the relative humidity was 94% .
While Colaba experienced a minimum temperature of 25.8 °C and maximum temperature of 30.4 °C with relative humidity of 93% .
