Mira Bhayandar: Notorious Woman Thief Held For Stealing Gold Jewellery Worth ₹34,608
Posing as a Customer, She Walked into Showrooms in Pune, Mumbai and Palghar and Stealing Small Sized Ornaments With the Sleight of Her Hand.

Mira Bhayandar: More than a month after she stole gold ornaments from a reputed jewellery showroom in Virar, the 53-year-old woman has been arrested by the crime branch unit (Zone III) attached to the Mira Bhayandar-Vasai Virar (MBVV) police for her involvement in the theft.
The woman identified as-Vidya Gangadhar Thorat (53) turned out to be a serial offender with similar cases registered against her in Mumbai, Palghar and Pimpri-Chinchwad area in Pune.
According to the police, the manager of the store had registered a complaint at the Virar police station on 10, November, stating that 21 gold nose pins worth Rs.34,608 were found to be missing during their routine inventory inspection.

After checking the closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras, they spotted a suspicious-looking woman walking into the shop on 5, November.
Under the pretext of selecting the ornaments, she stole a packet containing 21 gold nose pins with the sleight of her hands before leaving the shop in a hurry. The case was handed over to the crime branch unit.
On the virtue of inputs by informer network and electronic surveillance, a team led by police inspector- Pramod Badhaakh nabbed Vidya from Nallasopara on Tuesday (17, December).
Investigations revealed that Vidya had been arrested by the Sangvi police ( Pimpri-Chinchwad) in 2020 for similar thefts committed by her at gold ornaments showrooms. She was currently out on bail. Her involvement in more than half-a-dozen cases have come to light so far, police said.

Meanwhile an offence under section 305 (a) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) for theft has been registered against Vidya who has been remanded to custody. Officials from the Virar police station are conducting further investigations.
