Mira-Bhayandar: The Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC) has launched “Litigation Management Solution” - a specially designed user-friendly software aimed at streamlining the functioning of its legal department.
Municipal Commissioner Sanjay Katkar Launches The Software
Municipal commissioner Sanjay Katkar launched the software in the presence of senior officials and representatives of the software development company on Wednesday. The legal department which is overburdened with scores of cases, petitions and litigations either filed by the MBMC or against them in various courts are represented by a battery of lawyers who are on-board of the official panel formed by the civic administration. However, due to the lack of comprehensive information, coupled by the prevailing anomalies and corrupt practices allegedly adopted by some officials, the department is surrounded with controversies-especially in cases related to illegal constructions.

The software will now facilitate effective tracking and management of all legal cases registered by the MBMC or filed against it on a centralized platform. Details including case status, scheduled hearings, orders issued by courts and other related legal information concerned to responsible departments like anti-encroachment, public works and town planning will be available at the click of a mouse with the help of the software.
There have been instances when no further action has been initiated against encroachers even after stay orders being lifted by eligible courts, either by concealing the demolition directions or giving ample scope for litigants to approach higher courts. On the virtue of transparency generated by the software, it will now become convenient for the MBMC to promptly act as per the order passed by the courts in a time-bound manner.
