Mumbai: The Matunga police have registered a case against a woman candidate for allegedly attempting to cheat during the written examination for the Mumbai Railway Police Constable Recruitment 2024–25.
The accused, identified as 28-year-old Nayana Pratap Jadhav, has been charged with possessing a mobile phone and a Bluetooth-enabled in-ear electronic device with the intent to copy during the exam, despite such devices being strictly prohibited.
Recruitment Process Included Physical Test Followed by Written Exam
According to the FIR, the complaint was filed by woman police constable Sushma Vasant Adhari, 40. The recruitment process for constable posts under the Mumbai Railway Police Commissionerate included a physical efficiency test conducted between February 13 and March 7. Candidates who cleared the physical round appeared for the written examination held at Somaiya Vidyalaya, Vidyavihar (for male candidates) and Raja Shivaji Vidyalaya, Dadar (for female candidates).
On March 29, Adhari was deployed for exam security at Raja Shivaji Vidyalaya from 6:00 am. She was assigned to Room No. 411 on the fourth floor along with constables Manisha Avhad and Varsha Mankar. From 8:00 am onwards, candidates began arriving at the exam centre, where thorough document verification and physical checks were conducted before seating them.
Candidate's Suspicious Washroom Visits Prompted Thorough Re-Check
At around 10:00 am, Jadhav, a candidate from Sambhajinagar district (Chest No. 16662), entered Room No. 411 for the exam. After verification, she was allowed to take her seat. Shortly after, she requested permission to use the washroom, which was granted. She returned and resumed her seat.
In the final five minutes before the exam commenced, candidates were again allowed to use the washroom. Jadhav requested to go once more, raising suspicion as she had just returned minutes earlier. Adhari instructed Avhad to conduct a thorough re-check upon her return.
