Maharashtra NCP chief Jayant Patil on Friday said his party will do a good job as the opposition and win back people's trust. He added that the three parties of Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) - Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress - will nominate a common candidate for the Assembly Speaker's post. "We have not sat together and discussed after the government fell. We will sit together and decide the next policy. All the three parties will try our best to come together wherever possible in the upcoming local body elections," he added.

Speaking about the Income Tax notice to NCP chief Sharad Pawar with regard to the affidavits filed during the 2004, 2009, 2014 and 2020 elections, Patil said, "This has been done deliberately by some people to try and make an impact by misusing the system as they would have got the information from the Election Commission of India (ECI)."

Patil also spoke about the summons issued to Shiv Sena Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). "He is innocent and we have no doubt about it. At the end of today's inquiry, it remains to be seen what decision the ED officials in Delhi will make because even before this, our leaders were interrogated during the day and news of their arrest came late at night. Therefore, we hope that ED will purposely not do this."

Meanwhile, the state NCP chief spokesperson Mahesh Tapase took a dig at the new government terming it a two-wheeled scooter with the person (CM) sitting on the front seat does have the wheel but the person (DCM) on the back seat has. This was countering the BJP’s claim that Maha Vikas Aghadi government was a three-wheeled auto rickshaw government.

‘’No matter what the rebel MLAs of Shiv Sena say, Uddhav Thackeray is the real Shiv Sena. Rebel MLAs should go to Matoshree and apologize to Thackeray, said Tapase.
