Maharashtra Politics: Nitin Deshmukh, Accused In Vidhan Bhavan Scuffle Case, Appointed As NCP-SP Spokesperson

Mumbai: Nitin Deshmukh, an NCP-SP worker who came into the spotlight during a physical altercation with BJP MLA Gopichand Padalkar’s supporters in the Maharashtra Assembly lobby, has been appointed as one of the official spokespersons of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) – Sharadchandra Pawar faction.

Jitendra Awhad Announces List Of 16 Spokesperson

The announcement was made by MLA Jitendra Awhad, the party’s chief spokesperson, who released a list of 16 new party spokespersons on social media. The appointment is seen as a major recognition for Deshmukh, who has built his image as a fearless party worker unafraid to directly confront political opponents.

The incident that brought Deshmukh into the public eye occurred during the monsoon session of the legislature, when supporters of BJP MLA Gopichand Padalkar and those of NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar) MLA Jitendra Awhad clashed in the Assembly lobby. Mumbai Police registered cases against Sarjerao Baban Takle (37) and Nitin Hindurao Deshmukh (41) in connection with the scuffle. Both were later granted bail. The matter is currently under consideration by the legislature’s Privileges Committee.

Deshmukh Expresses Gratitude Over Big Opportunity

Despite the pending case, Awhad entrusted Deshmukh with the party spokesperson’s role, a move interpreted as both a show of confidence and political reward. Reacting to his appointment, Deshmukh said, “Today is a moment of pride for me. Our national spokesperson Jitendra Awhad announced my appointment as an official spokesperson of the NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar faction), and my name appeared on the list.”

Deshmukh expressed gratitude, stating he never imagined that someone from an ordinary family with no political lineage would receive such a prominent position. He credited the party for honouring workers who refuse to compromise on ideology and who stand for the rights of the Bahujan community.

“I have always taken to the streets for people, stood against injustice, and paid the price for my beliefs. Now, I will work for the interests of Mumbai and Maharashtra with the same dedication and fighting spirit. This is not just an appointment; it is a trust placed in me, and I will uphold it with complete sincerity,” he added.

Fahad Ahmad Included In List

The list of newly appointed spokespersons also includes Fahad Ahmad, husband of actress Swara Bhasker, along with Vidya Chavan, Ankush Kakade, Sudhakar Bhalerao, Bhimrao Hattiambeere, Mahesh Tapase, Vikas Lavande, Sakshana Salgar, Mehboob Shaikh, Raja Rajpurkar, Manali Bhilare, Clyde Crasto, Rakhi Jadhav, and Rachana Vaidya.
