Mumbai: The Maharashtra Cyber Cell is set to register a case against individuals responsible for uploading controversial content about Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj on Wikipedia. Authorities believe the content could create social unrest, prompting legal action against four to five individuals.
A dispute has arisen in Maharashtra after the emergence of inappropriate material regarding Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj on Wikipedia. The debate occurred alongside the debut of the Bollywood movie 'Chhaava', starring Vicky Kaushal, which depicts the life of Sambhaji Maharaj, the second Chhatrapati of the Maratha Empire.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has instructed the state police to contact Wikipedia and ask for the deletion of the objectionable content. Fadnavis mentioned, "I have instructed the Inspector General of the Maharashtra cyber cell to reach out to Wikipedia officials and request the removal of the offensive content related to Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj." We will not accept such content on open-source platforms where historical information is misrepresented. "I have instructed the officials to implement any necessary measures."
