Maharashtra: Congress MP Balubhau Dhanorkar passes away at 48 in Delhi

Congress MP from Chandrapur, Balubhau Dhanorkar, passed away on Tuesday at the age of 48 in Delhi. Dhanorkar, the sole Congress MP from the state was undergoing treatment at Medanta Hospital in Delhi. Dhanorkar had been receiving medical care for kidney disease in Nagpur before being airlifted to Delhi two days ago when his condition deteriorated. Despite hopes for his recovery, he succumbed to his illness around midnight, leaving behind a grieving political landscape.

Funeral arrangements of Dhanorkar

Survived by his wife, MLA Pratibha, and two children, Dhanorkar's body will be transported from Delhi to Nagpur via Nagpur and will reach his residence in Warora at 1:30 pm. From May 30, 2 pm, until May 31, 10 am, his residence will be open for the public to pay their last respects.

The final rites will be performed on May 31 at 11 am at Mokshadham, located on the Vani-Warora bypass road. The untimely demise of Balu Dhanorkar, coupled with the recent passing of his father, Narayan Dhanorkar, has brought immense sorrow to the Dhanorkar family.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla expresses condolences on the demise of Congress Chandrapur MP Balu Dhanorkar. Taking to his Twitter handle, Birla said, "Saddened by the demise of Mr. Balubhau Dhanorkar, MP from Chandrapur, Maharashtra. Keeping a deep connection with the public, he dedicated himself to reach and fulfill the hopes of the common man. His death is an irreparable loss to all of us. My condolences to the bereaved families. Om Shanti!"

About Dhanorkar's career

Balu Dhanorkar's premature departure is a significant loss to the political arena. Despite facing challenging circumstances in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, he showcased exceptional organisational skills and built strong public relations, ultimately securing victory for the Congress in Maharashtra. His tenure marked the opening of the party's account in the state.

Hailing from Bhadrawati, Chandrapur district, Dhanorkar initially received a ticket from Shiv Sena in 2009. However, he faced a setback during that election. Undeterred, he continued to support the constituency for Shiv Sena through various agitations and organisational endeavours until 2014 when he won the MLA seat on a Shiv Sena ticket.
