Maharashtra: 8-Year-Old Killed By Speeding Truck In Jalgaon, Mob Sets Vehicle Ablaze

An eight-year-old boy was killed after being struck by a speeding truck in Maharashtra’s Jalgaon on Monday, triggering protests and tension in the area. The child had reportedly visited a temple on Mamurabad Road to offer prayers during the ongoing Kanwar Yatra.

The accident occurred near Praja Nagar when the boy was leaving the temple premises. Eyewitnesses said the truck, allegedly travelling at high speed, lost control and hit the child. He died at the scene.

News of the fatal accident quickly sparked outrage, with a crowd gathering on the road. Protesters placed the boy’s body on the road and set the truck ablaze in anger over his death.

Police teams and fire brigade personnel were rushed to the spot to contain the situation and put out the fire. However, the crowd reportedly obstructed their efforts as tensions escalated.

The truck driver, who suffered minor injuries in the crash, was taken to a hospital for treatment. Protesters objected to the move and demanded that he be brought back to the site and handed over to them.

Authorities deployed additional police personnel to prevent further escalation and restore order. Traffic movement on Mamurabad Road was also affected amid the unrest.
