Mumbai, August 21, 2026: The foundation stone-laying ceremony was held in Worli for a long-pending residential complex for officials of the Indian Coast Guard (ICG). The 29-storey building in Worli will house accommodation flats, officers' mess, gymnasium and other facilities for the maritime law enforcement agency.

Foundation Stone Laid

ICG Western Region's Commander, Inspector General Bhisham Sharma, laid the foundation stone for the Coast Guard Residential Area (CORA) building in Worli on Friday.

The landmark high-rise project, which will be executed by the Central Public Works Department (CPWD), is said to address the long-standing housing requirements and will modernise the living standards for ICG officers and their families stationed in Mumbai.

Residential Facilities Planned

The 29-storey residential tower will house single living quarters, married accommodation flats, and an officers' mess. The project will also include an integrated officers' mess with a wardroom, dining hall, gymnasium, and multipurpose hall, along with dedicated multi-level parking for 91 vehicles.

Project Clears Delays

Initially sanctioned in February 2020, the project overcame administrative and regulatory delays following proactive coordination with the Maharashtra government and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

Following the waiver of floor space index (FSI) charges till the occupancy certificate, re-tendering and the grant of the commencement certificate on August 3, the project has now achieved full statutory compliance and execution readiness.
