Holi 2025: Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation Urges Eco-Friendly Celebrations, Warns Against Tree Cutting

As the city gears up to celebrate Holi, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) Tree Authority has urged residents to celebrate the festival in an environmentally responsible manner by preventing tree cutting and minimizing water wastage.
Holi will be celebrated on March 13.
" It is important that citizens take active participation in tree conservation as there is rampant urban development happening and construction projects impacting the city’s green cover," said an officia.. The municipal body has warned against the indiscriminate felling of trees for Holika Dahan, the ritual bonfire that marks the festival. “Instead, citizens are encouraged to use wood waste, discarded materials, or dried branches, ensuring that no trees are harmed in the process,” said an official.
