Mumbai: The Dapoli police have registered a case of cheating against MLA Anil Parab who is also the spokesperson of Shivsena Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray, almost a year after drama and action pertaining to the Dapoli resort fraud case.

The case has been registered at Dapoli police station on the complaint of Rupa Dighe, 57, who is the group development officer, panchayat samiti. It has been lodged under Sections 420 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code.

The case has been registered against Parab, SureshTupe and Anant Koli.

According to the police, the statement by the complainant alleged that BJP leader Kirit Somaiya had given a complaint to the gram panchayat (Murud) on September 16, 2021.

“Somaiya had stated that even though there is no building, tax has been taken by the panchayat by registering it in the year 2019. Somaiya also complained to the Additional Secretary of Revenue and Forest Department on September 16, 2019. It was found in this complaint that on July 27, 2019, construction in Dapoli taluka (Murud) was implemented and registered after taking tax as per rules,” said a police officer.

While taking it on record, the Gram Panchayat should have checked whether the said building exists by visiting the spot. But when the records were checked, no such writtenpaper was available in it.

"On checking the paper given by Somaiya, it was found that the construction work on Google Earth on March 29, 2019, and November 29, 2020, has not been completed. Therefore, the tax was imposed at that place even before the completion of the building. Owing to this, the Murud gram panchayat has misused the rights obtained as per Clause 124 of the Maharashtra gram panchayat Act, 1960, causing the Maharashtra government to be cheated,” added the police officer.

Earlier BJP leader Kirit Somaiya had moved Bombay HC

Bhartiya Janata Party Leader (BJP) leader Kirit Somaiya has approached the Bombay High Court (HC) seeking to intervene in the petition filed by Sadanand Kadam, owner of the resort at Dapoli which is allegedly owned by Shiv Sena leader Anil Parab.

Somaiya has alleged that Parab “played fraud by concocting documents in connivance with Sadanand Kadam for placement, layering and integration of corruption money in acquiring a benami property”.
