Navi Mumbai: A class 9, ICSE board student from Podar International School jumped off from the fifth floor of the school on Friday morning. The incident reportedly took place while the assembly was on in the morning hours.
The boy jumped from the canteen of the school located in the Sector 36 of Nerul. Local police immediately rushed to the spot and launched probe into the matter. According to police, prima facie, it is a suicide and there is no foul play.
Incident Caught On School's CCTV
According to reports, the incident was caught in the school's CCTV. As per the footage, the child can be seen climbing on the wall and then jumping off the fifth floor. His body was sent for postmortem and an investigation is underway in the matter.

In a similar incident reported recently, a 53-year-old woman from Daund, Pune, died by suicide after jumping from the seventh floor of a building in Mulund on Tuesday, February 4. The woman, identified as Sunita Yewale, had been battling multiple health issues and had recently travelled to Mumbai to stay with her sister for diabetes treatment.
According to police sources, Sunita had been struggling with deteriorating health for a long time, which had taken a toll on her emotional well-being. Family members and neighbours noted that her prolonged health struggles had impacted her quality of life, leading to distress.
The Mulund Police confirmed that Sunita had been suffering from diabetes for the past 27 years. In addition to diabetes, she had suffered a heart attack two years ago and was also dealing with an eye-related condition. She was scheduled to undergo treatment at J.J. Hospital in Mumbai but tragically took the extreme step.
